Subject: `Stop Draggin` My Heart Around (demo sequence)` -- Tom Petty and the Heartbreak
This is the demo sequence from the Playback set. I like it better than the
other one that was released with Stevie Nicks. You can play it with a capo
on the second fret, or without one at all, it all depends on what you think
sounds better.
Stop Draggin` My Heart Around -- Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
from Playback, written by TP and Mike Campbell, 1981 Gone Gator/Wild Gator
Em G
Baby you came knockin` at my front door
Bm C
Same old line you used to use before
Em G
I said, `Yeah`, well what am I s`posed to do?
Bm C
I didn`t know what I was gettin` into
Em C
So you`ve had a little trouble in town
G Bm C
Now you`re keepin` some demon down
Em G
Stop draggin` my, stop draggin` my
Bm C G
Stop draggin` my heart around
It`s hard to think about what you`ve wanted
It`s hard to think about what you`ve lost
This doesn`t have to be the big get even
This doesn`t have to be anything at all
I know you really wanna tell me good-bye
I know you really wann be your own girl
Am Em
Baby, you could never look me in the eyes
G Bm C
Yeah, you buckle with the weight of the words
Em G
Stop draggin` my, stop draggin` my
Bm C G
Stop draggin` my heart around
Theres` people runnin` round loose in the world
Ain`t got nothin` better to do
Than make a meal of some bright-eyed kid
You need someone lookin` after you
I know you really wanna tell me good-bye
I know you really wanna be your own girl
Baby, you could never look me in the eyes
Yeah, you buckle with the weight of the words
Stop dragin` my, stop draggin` my
Stop draggin` my heart around
Em=022000
