Rock Star

It was my juinor year of high school and these two friends and I
Got these beat up guitars and huge amplifiers
We jamed in a little basement, our own biggest fans
Formed a funk-metal trio called the Love Belly Band
We practiced three whole times before we got our big chance
We were hired to play for our homecoming dance
And it just so happened that there on that day
Was the friend of a brother of a guy who works for RCA
Well all right, I`m droping out of school and signing a record deal
Tell me how good I am
Tell me that I`m the man
My debut record has just hit the streets
It`s in all the music stores on MTV
Millions of fans are flocking the halls
My parents will finaly return my phone calls
I gotta brand new tour bus, roadies and that
Now when I`m on stage guitars are placed in my hands
I`m the king of the world, I`m the top of the heap
`Cause my record`s been chosen as pick of the week
With a write up in Rolling Stone I`ll be bigger than the king himself
Tell me how good I am
Tell me that I`m the man
Bring me my limo I can`t be seen in a cab
I said pick out the brown ones now how hard is that
I want wine, I want women, I want them know understand
Everybody drop what your doing and tell me how good I am
I`m a rock and roll star
I was handed that revue a day in advance, I was so excited I almost wet my pants
But the part was over, the message was clear, this critic has just crowned me the joke of the year
Well it didn`t take long before the fans all stayed home
Lost my big record deal, mom unplugged the phone
The groupies all left and the money dried up
I broke both my legs in my fall from the top
Oh well, we can always do one of those reunion tours
Tell me how good I am
Tell me that I`m the man
Shower me with praises do the jobs I can`t stand
Tell me...
Tell me how good I am
Tell me that I`m the man
Shower me with praises do the jobs I can`t stand
Somebody tell me how very good I am
