This Metallica’s Enter Sandman and this is James Hetfield’s Part.
I will tab Hammet’s Part later.
You’ve probably seen this in a hundred places but this is the concise
and clear part that he plays.
This song as with most Metallica songs is in G Major and is in 4/4.
This is very easy but for beginners it requires practice, this is the
perfect song to start playing Metallica with it also sounds good even
on it’s own.

Main Riff (Very Distorted)
One of the most famous riffs ever, only tip here is to use your
little finger for the E on the A string and to try to use it as
much as possible. Strum this hard and heavy.
(E5)
E[--------------]
B[--------------]
G[--------------]Three Times.
D[-2-2----------]
A[-2-2--7---^---]
E[-0-0----6-5---]

A[-5---4---4-5-4-2---]the verse.
E[-3-0-2-0-2-3-2-0---]
Verse (Distorted)
Try to make it sound like a hammer on as much as possible
even though it isn’t.
(E5) (F5)
E[------------------]
B[------------------]
G[------------------]Play this three times but on the last one
D[-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-3--]miss out the F5 and go onto the tail
A[-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-3--]again.
E[-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-1--]
Say your Prayers little one,
Don’t forget my son,
To include everyone.
(Tail)
I Tuck you in warm within,
Keep you free from sin,
Till the sandman he comes.
Pre-Chorus- Not as heavy but pick fairly hard.
After playing it many time it becomes habit and singing
over it is easy.
E[--------------]
B[--------------]
G[-----2--------]Play this four times.
D[---4-------4--]
A[-------3-2----]
E[-2------------]
Sleep with one eye open,
Gripping your pillow tight.
Chorus- Heavy fit the two notes in as quick as possible.
The fill are subject to speculation, one of them is played on bass but they sound good and they fit in so why not play them?

Exit Light,
Enter Night,
Take my hand,
We’re off to never-never land.
Classic.
Repeat the whole thing without the intro and these lyrics.
Something’s wrong,
Shut the light,
Heavy thoughts tonight,
and they aren’t of Snow White.
Sleep with one eye open,
Gripping your pillow tight,
Exit light,
Enter night,
Take my hand,
We’re off to never-never land.
Then half a bar of silence with drums then Hetfield says “Heh heh”
or “mother fucker yeah” or something and the solo starts this is what Hetfield plays underneath.

E[-2------------]
Hush little baby don’t say a word,
And never mind that noise you heard,
it’s just the beasts under your,
in your closet in your head.
Then the chorus again but instead of “take my hand” it’s
“grain of sand” and not tail but the chorus again.
That’s pretty much it there’s a lot to jam on for the outro
and Metallica do various different things on it.
Comments about this and questions of any sort will be regarded
but any sons of bitches who write anti-Metallica hate-mail will
all die and go to bad taste hell. If you are a beginner then try
and learn the power chord names,
(5 is another name for a power chord) it is very helpful. Good luck
and learn well, practice is the only way to become good.
