Verse 1
I never thought
I’d die alone,
I laughed the loudest
Who’d have known?
I traced the cord back to the wall
No wonder it was never plugged in at all
I took my time,
I hurried up,
The choice was mine I didn’t think enough
I’m too depressed to go on,
You’ll be sorry when I’m gone
(Riff 2)
Chorus 1
I never conquered,
Rarely came,
Sixteen just held such better days,
Days when I could still feel alive,
I couldn’t wait to get outside,
The world was wide,
Too late to try,
The tour was over,
We survived,
I couldn’t wait,
Till I got home,
To pass the time in my room alone
(Riff 1)
Verse 2
I never thought,
I’d die alone,
Another six months I’ll be unknown,
Give all my things,
To all my friends,
You’ll never step foot in my room again,
You’ll close it off, board it up,
Remember the time that I spilled the cup,
Of apple juice in the hall,
Please tell mom this is not her fault
(Riff 2)
Chorus 2
I never conquered,
Rarely came,
Sixteen just held such better days,
Days when I could still feel alive,
I couldn’t wait to get outside,
The time was right,
Too late to try,
The tour was over,
We survived,
I couldn’t wait,
Till I got home,
To pass the time in my room alone
Piano/Bass/Drums part
Riff 3, Riff 4
Final Chorus (A little different)
I never conquered,
Rarely came,
Tomorrow hold such better days,
Days when I could still feel alive,
I couldn’t wait to get outside
The world was wide,
The time goes by,
The tour was over,
I survived,
I can’t wait,
Till I get home,
To pass the time in my room alone
(Hit end chord on the last word and let it ring)
APPENDIX
Distortion
I use mild crunch distortion. If that doesn’t work, or you don’t know
what crunch is or you don’t have it, try whatever you want, but don’t
use heavy, because it sounds like poop.
Muting
To palm mute, just rest your picking palm at the base of your strings.
It might be weird at first, but you’ll get used to it. If you don’t,
and you’re really frustrated, you can finger mute. To do that, simply
touch the strings lightly instead of pressing them down. It doesn’t
sound as good as palm muting, but it works. Plus this is mainly a
bass part, so you could rest during the verse, but you get bored when
you do, trust me.
